Veteran comedian Bill Cosby has been sued by a former model who claims Cosby drugged and raped her 33 years ago. BBC News reports that Janice Dickinson, who was one of the most successful models of the 1970s and 1980s and has been called the first supermodel, filed the suit this week in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

The lawsuit “seeks unspecified damages for defamation, false light and intentional infliction of emotional distress,” the story reports.

The suit comes in response to Cosby’s alleged accusations that Dickinson is lying when she says he raped her in a Lake Tahoe hotel in 1982. Dickinson first made the accusation back in November on “Entertainment Tonight,” joining a number of women who have accused the comedian of a string of sexual assaults.

Dickinson’s suit alleges that Cosby falsely labeled her a liar.

“In her defamation complaint, Dickinson claims Cosby chose ‘to vilify and publicly attack’ her in his denials,” the story reports, adding: “More than 40 women have accused Cosby of sexual assault. He has never been charged for any of the alleged crimes.”
