‘Billboard Music Awards’ vs. ‘Mad Men’ Finale: Which One Made a Bigger Impact on Social Media?

The Nielsen Social ratings are out for the week of May 11-17, and between the two most tweeted-about TV events of the week, it was no contest. ABC’s Sunday telecast of the “2015 Billboard Music Awards” crushed the competition, including distant second-place “Mad Men.”

  • Tweets: Tweets ascribed to a linear TV episode or sports event.
  • Unique Audience: The total number of distinct Twitter accounts accruing at least one impression of one Tweet ascribed to a TV episode or sports event.

Nielsen. Nielsen Social captures relevant Tweets from three hours before through three hours after broadcast, local time. Unique Audience measures the audience of relevant Tweets ascribed to a program from when the Tweets are sent until the end of the broadcast day at 5am. Sports Events include those on Broadcast and National Cable Networks only across all day parts. For multicast events, networks are listed alphabetically and metrics reflect the highest Unique Audience across all airing networks.
