An actress known for playing a sadistic molester on TV has been convicted of sexually abusing a teenage girl. People magazine reports that Australian actress Maggie Kirkpatrick, who played a sadistic prison guard on the popular Australian soap opera “Prisoner,” was convicted in a case from 1984.

Kirkpatrick appeared as prison officer Joan “The Freak” Ferguson on the show, which aired from 1979-1986. Her character was known for molesting inmates while conducting body searches.

The 74-year-old Kirkpatrick was found guilty today of two counts of indecent assault and one count of gross indecency with a person under 16, according to a report in the Sydney Morning Herald.

“The victim was a 14-year-old fan whom Kirkpatrick met in 1984 when the teen was being treated in a psychiatric hospital for substance abuse and a personality disorder,” People reports. “The victim testified Wednesday after keeping quiet for years, thinking no one would believe her ‘crazy’ story.”
