ABC Apologizes to Actress Over On-Air Flub

ABC has issued an apology to the star of one of the network’s new drama series after an embarrassing error aired in a “Nightline” promo, Deadline.com reports.

As we reported yesterday, ABC mixed up two Indian actresses, both of them former Miss Worlds. The promo on Priyanka Chopra, the star of ABC’s “Quantico,” featured a photo of a different actress, Yukta Mookhey, misidentified as Chopra.

The mistake prompted a round of online mocking, along with allegations of racial insensitivity. As it turns out, the “Nightline” segment, titled “How ‘Quantico’ Star Priyanka Chopra Dealt With Race Issues,” was meant to deal with that very subject.

ABC apologized Tuesday to Chopra on Twitter, tweeting “Our sincerest apologies @priyankachopra.”

The network also posted a corrected version of the “Nightline” story, which you can see below.

  1. This, the San Francisco airline crash crew names, and the Star of David fiasco on WGN is what you get when you “find synergies” (fire people) and then give the remaining staff way too much to do. Especially when the new staff is cheap and under-trained. No time to double check your work at best, and too hurried and harried to care, at worst.
