ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel held out an olive branch after being the target of a “firestorm of insults and death threats” for the past week, Entertainment Weekly reports.

Kimmel invoked the wrath of gamers when he commented on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” that he thought watching other people play video games — a pastime that has gained popularity on YouTube and other online video sites — was a waste of time.

On last night’s show, the host took steps to put the feud to rest. Noting that his comment set off possibly “the most vicious feud of the digital era,” he reached out to some popular online gamers in an effort to understand their appeal.

Kimmel videotaped his encounter with gamers Jonna Mae (aka MissesMae) and Mark Fischbach (Markiplier), who brought him up to speed on the trend — potentially ending the feud, while also generating an amusing segment for Kimmel’s show.
