A television reality show franchise that has already had a number of incarnations is expanding with a new spinoff series. GSN announced plans for the newest installment in its “Skin Wars” body painting competition franchise.

“Skin Wars: Fresh Paint” received an order for eight episodes from the cable channel. The program will be hosted by RuPaul Charles, who is a judge on “Skin Wars.”

Along with the original series, which is hosted by Rebecca Romijn and was recently renewed for a third season, the franchise has included the online series “Skin Wars: The Naked Truth with Kandee Johnson” and a special edition of “Skin Wars: Fresh Paint” hosted by RuPaul, which aired Aug. 26.

In its announcement, GSN noted that the new one-hour show will feature three former “Skin Wars” contestants mentoring six new artists each week. “These artists are at the top of their game in their own disciplines, but will leave their creative comfort zones to compete in body painting for the first time, attempting to win the $10,000 prize at the end of each show and become a ‘Skin Wars: Fresh Paint’ champion,” the network announced.

Amy Introcaso-Davis, EVP of Programming, GSN, says in the announcement: “’Skin Wars: Fresh Paint’ expands the ‘Skin Wars’ franchise by challenging the country’s most talented artists to redefine their creative boundaries. RuPaul, the innovator of transformation, is the perfect host to anchor the franchise’s next step.”
