News Corp. may have opened a can of worms with the reinstatement this week of one of the key players in the company’s phone hacking scandal.

Politico reports News Corp.’s former U.K. security chief, Mark Hanna, responded to the company’s reappointment of Rebekah Brooks as chief executive by posting a video message in which Hanna promises to make explosive revelations about News Corp.

Hanna says on the video, which he posted on YouTube: “I intend to tell you everything I know, which I’m sure will shock everybody.”

Politico adds: “Hanna, the former group head of security at News International, now known as News U.K., was tried alongside Brooks and others on criminal charges relating to the phone hacking scandal. The former soldier was accused of perverting the course of justice by helping Brooks hide evidence. He, like Brooks, was cleared of any wrongdoing in June last year.”

Brooks always claimed she knew nothing of the phone hacking that went on at the company, and she was acquitted of all charges. She is due to return to her old job Monday.
