Fox has cast the lead role in its “Rocky Horror Picture Show” reboot, casting actress Laverne Cox as Dr. Frank-N-Furter.

The Frank-N-Furter role was made famous by Tim Curry in the 1975 cult film “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” Fox calls the Frank-N-Furter character “a sexually ambiguous flirtatious alien mad-scientist.”

Cox was nominated for an Emmy in 2014 for “Orange Is the New Black.”

The Fox reboot marks the film’s 40th anniversary. Along with Curry, Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick starred in the movie.

The two-hour Fox production, which the network says is a reimagining of the cult film, is due in fall 2016.

The new project is from Fox 21 Television Studios and The Jackal Group.

  1. It won’t be the same. 40 years ago sexual ambiguity was on the dark side and added to the appeal of the show. Now you get it every week on numerous shows and films

  2. This is another remake we don’t need.
