Report: ESPN Set to Announce 350 Layoffs

“Walt Disney Co.’s ESPN sports network, confronting rising programming costs and a loss of viewers, plans to eliminate as many as 350 positions, about 4.3 percent of its workforce, according to people with knowledge of the matter,” reports BloombergBusiness.

The story adds that the cuts will likely be announced tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, “said the people [with knowledge of the matter], who asked not to be identified discussing the matter because it isn’t public.”

BloombergBusiness also wrote that “The sports broadcaster, based in Bristol, Connecticut, employs 8,000 people worldwide, according to a company fact sheet.”

ESPN declined to comment to BloombergBusiness about the story.
