The upcoming “Twin Peaks” TV series has reportedly added a character who was a big part of the original ABC series, along with the actor who played him.

Writing on Deadline.com, Nellie Andreeva reports that Miguel Ferrer will return in his role as FBI Agent Albert Rosenfield.

But Andreeva notes that no one is commenting yet officially, and adds: “The only actor officially confirmed for the new ‘Twin Peaks’ is original star Kyle MacLachlan, who is set to reprise his role as Dale Cooper. Sheryl Lee, who played victim Laura Palmer in the original, also is back — she has been snapped by paparazzi filming scenes with MacLachlan.”

The new series is coming to Showtime, where it’s scheduled to premiere in 2017. The original, created by Mark Frost and David Lynch, ran for two seasons on ABC from 1990-1991.

Andreeva reports that others who are expected or rumored to be returning from the original series include David Patrick Kelly, who played Jerry Horne, and Richard Beymer, who played Jerry’s brother Benjamin.

Jennifer Jason Leigh and Balthazar Getty are said to be among the cast members who will be new to the “Twin Peaks” universe, Andreeva notes.
