Trevor Noah will have the night off tonight from hosting Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” as he recovers from an emergency appendectomy, Variety reports, citing a statement released today by Comedy Central.

The cable net planned to run a repeat episode tonight, with Noah expected back at his desk for Thursday’s show.

In its statement the network said: “We’re happy to report the procedure went well and he is currently recuperating from the surgery. … We expect he and the show will be back with an original episode tomorrow.”

Noah took over the show Sept. 28 following a 16-plus-year run as host by Jon Stewart.
