NBC is making it happen — a dream pairing of two former “Saturday Night Live” regulars who will return to the show to co-host the Dec. 19 episode.

E! News reports that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will co-host the show. “The duo made ‘SNL’ history in 2004 when they became the first female duo to serve as hosts of ‘Weekend Update,’ which they did for two years before Fey exited the show for ’30 Rock,'” the story reports.

Their return to “SNL” comes one day after their new movie, “Sisters, opens in theaters Dec. 18.

Fey and Poehler haven’t strayed far from the “SNL” fold. The report notes: “The duo reunited on ‘SNL’ in 2008 for one of the show’s most iconic sketches, in which Poehler played Hillary Clinton and Fey portrayed then-Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, who could see Russia from her house. They also returned for the show’s 40th anniversary special to take over the ‘Weekend Update’ desk together once again.”

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will be the musical guests Dec. 19.

NBC also announced that Ryan Gosling will host the Dec. 5 installment of the show, which will feature musical guest Leon Bridges. The lineup for Dec. 12 includes guest host Chris Hemsworth and musical guest Chance the Rapper.

  1. Not as much of a dream pairing as Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin, which is what I was hoping for.

  2. Was hoping for Bill Murray paired with Mike Myers.
