A+E Networks has filled a major executive position with an industry veteran with 20-plus years of NBC experience. The cable group announced the hire of Jim Hoffman as Executive Vice President, Program Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives, A+E Networks.

The announcement was made today by Peter Olsen, Executive Vice President, Ad Sales, A+E Networks, to whom Hoffman will report.

In the announcement, Olsen said: “Jim is one of the most well-respected, shining stars in the television business who brings a tremendous network of industry relationships and experience to this role. He has redefined the way ad agencies, brands, marketers, producers and programmers connect, and as a result has developed some of the industry’s best in class vehicles for brand exposure.”

The announcement adds: “Working with A+E Networks’ talented roster of in-house producers and third-party production companies, Hoffman will seek to deliver greater value to the company’s advertising partners by developing content solutions for marketers and programmers alike. The competition for viewers from traditional ad-supported competitors as well as additional players in both the digital and SVOD space has created a greater need for such solutions.”

Hoffman was most recently Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for NBC Entertainment, where he was responsible for selling NBCU’s entertainment portfolio, including prime time and late-night, and was also responsible for Universal and SyFy.

A+E Networks noted that Hoffman will be working with Lance Still, who recently joined the company as Senior Vice President, Branded Content, following a long tenure at The Weinstein Company.

“Combined, this will be a nimble and fast-moving team — to both bring developing projects to clients as well as develop projects that specifically meet the branded content needs of the company’s valuable partners,” the announcement notes, adding that Hoffman will be based in New York with Still based in Los Angeles.
