NBCUniversal today took the wraps off plans for the launch of the company’s new streaming comedy channel Seeso. The ad-free subscription service will launch Jan. 7 and will be offered for $3.99 per month.

The channel will be available initially on www.seeso.com and on iOS and Android platforms, with other platforms still to be added. Subscribers to the service will have access to more than 2,000 hours of original content at launch, with fresh content being added daily.

The launch will include weekly episodes of five Seeso original series: “Before the Morning After,” “Dave & Ethan: Lovemakers,” “Sammy J and Randy in Ricketts Lane,” “The Cyanide & Happiness Show” and “The UCB Show.”

Stand-up specials are also in the lineup, with Matt Besser’s “Besser Breaks the Record” and “Rory Scovel: The Charleston Special” on tap. Additionally, up-and-coming standups will be featured on the special “The Guest List: Live From the Barrel House,” set to livestream Jan. 13.
