Taking a cue from fantasy sports leagues, the ABC daytime talk staple “The View” is kicking off its first fantasy movie league contest.

The event, announced on today’s installment of “The View,” is being arranged in conjunction with FantasyMovieLeague.com, with its founder, ESPN senior fantasy analyst Matthew Berry, appearing on “The View” for the announcement.

“Viewers will have the chance to play along with moderator Whoopi Goldberg and co-hosts Joy Behar, Candace Cameron Bure, Michelle Collins, Paula Faris and Raven-Symone for the opportunity to win every movie lover’s dream prize, a trip to Hollywood and tickets to attend exclusive Academy Awards events,” ABC said in a release announcing the contest.

The announcement adds: “Each week viewers must pick which movies they believe will earn the most at the box office, and the viewer at the top of the weekly scoreboard will win movie themed prizes, including t-shirts and gift cards. One viewer will be selected at random to win the Golden Ticket Prize, a trip for two to New York City to attend a live broadcast of ‘The View.’ And it all builds to the announcement of the Grand Prize — two round-trip tickets to Los Angeles to sit in the bleachers on the famed red carpet at the Academy Awards and attend an exclusive VIP viewing party at the El Capitan Theater to watch the live Oscars broadcast on Feb. 28, 2016.”

The announcement notes: “To have a chance to earn enough points to win the grand prize, viewers must join by Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at noon, EST. The contest runs for seven consecutive weeks with final entries due by noon, EST, on Friday, Jan. 22, 2016. Weekly prizes will also be awarded, and entrants will also have an opportunity to win through a random drawing.”
