A remake of the classic comedy series “One Day at a Time” centering on a Latino family has a series order at Netflix, Deadline.com reports. Rita Moreno will star in the Sony Pictures TV project, which has a 13-episode order.
The project is written by Gloria Calderon Kellett (‘How I Met Your Mother”) and Mike Royce (“Everybody Loves Raymond”).
“The multicamera comedy revolves around a Cuban-American family, centering on a recently separated former military mom who is navigating a new single life while raising her radical teenaged daughter and socially adept tween son, with the ‘help’ of her old school Cuban-born mom and a friends-without-benefits building manager named Schneider,” the story reports. “Moreno will play the grandmother.”
Schneider was played in the original by Pat Harrington Jr., who died last week.
