FX Networks CEO John Landgraf has been beating the drum for a while about how there’s “too much TV,” and now the company has put out a list that tends to support his argument: All 1,400-plus prime-time TV series that aired during 2015, ranked by average viewership, based on Nielsen data.
The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed notes that the list includes 412 original scripted series along with hundreds of reality shows and docuseries. Talking about the overall television landscape, with its rapidly expanding field of producers and distributors, Landgraf is quoted in the story saying, “We make more shows than we can afford, collectively.”
