Trump to Skip This Week’s Fox News Town Hall Event; Megyn Kelly Is Hosting, But That’s Not Why Trump Says He’s Sitting This One Out

All of the major GOP presidential candidates except Donald Trump will take part in a town hall event on Fox News this week, according to The Hollywood Reporter. FNC regular Megyn Kelly, who has clashed with Trump during the election cycle, is hosting Wednesday’s event, but according to the Trump campaign, Kelly’s presence is not behind Trump’s decision to skip the town hall.

Trump spokesperson Hope Hicks said in an email to THR: “The campaign has a previous engagement in Virginia and then New York, which could not be rescheduled. Given this was just proposed at the last minute, it was not possible to change our plans in order to attend.”

Fox News said Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and John Kasich will all take part in the two-hour summit in Houston, dubbed “The Kelly File: Face to Face With Candidates.” The candidates will appear onstage one at a time to field questions from audience members, with Kasich appearing via remote.

Trump has said he will participate in an upcoming Fox News debate, set for March 3.

  1. “Other commitments.” Yeah, sure. He’s afraid of Meagan Kelly.

  2. Megyn, my wife and i were glued to the TV through the candidate interviews.
This is without a doubt the VERY best way to find out the positions of the candidates. I learned more about the 4 candidates in the two hour special that you hosted than all previous so called “debates”.
Wonderful job wish we could have more like it.
I especially like the fact that we heard from the audience for questions to the candidates.

    Very informative.
PS. I really was impressed with DR Carson.
