CBS has settled on the new MacGyver for its reboot of the 1980s ABC series, which starred Richard Dean Anderson. Lined up to play the title role in the “MacGyver” pilot is Lucas Till, Deadline.com reports.

The 25-year-old actor is known for his appearances in the “X-Men” movies. Joshua Boone will also be in the cast for the new prequel, which is from CBS TV Studios.

“The pilot, co-written by Paul Downs Colaizzo and Brett Mahoney and directed by David Von Ancken, features twentysomething Angus MacGyver (Till), who is recruited into the clandestine organization from the original series where he uses his knack for solving problems in unconventional ways to help prevent disasters from happening,” Deadline notes.
