Discovery unleashed plans for its hotly anticipated annual “Shark Week” programming event, which unspools June 26. The channel is promoting this year’s event with the theme “Shark N’ Awe.”

“Television’s longest-running and most anticipated summer event will make a huge splash this this summer with all-new compelling and jaw-dropping shark stories and shark technology,” Discovery says in its announcement.

The release adds: “This year, SharkCam dives deeper than ever before and follows giant great whites into the dark ocean to record never-before-seen behaviors. For the first time ever, sharks will face off with dolphins, seals, crocodiles and even humans, as one science team finds themselves surrounded by a gang of large tiger sharks.”

The channel also notes that SharkWeek.com will be the hub for online “Shark Week” action, with daily news and updates; Sharkopedia, the ultimate online guide to sharks; Web-exclusive video; the popular SharkCams; photos; and other multiplatform features.
