A former employee of HBO pleaded guilty to stealing almost $1 million from the pay cable company. Citing a City News Service story, the AP reports that Jennifer Choi, 38, entered guilty pleas Thursday to wire fraud and tax evasion.
Choi, who most recently worked as a talent relations manager for the company, reportedly perpetrated the fraud by submitting phony invoices during a 10-year career at HBO.
“Prosecutors say she set up a company to submit nearly 300 bogus invoices for style and makeup services to actors that were never provided,” the AP reports. “Instead, the money went into Choi’s bank account.”
