NBC Turns to Proven Formula for New Drama

Mar 29, 2016  •  Post A Comment

NBC has a potential new drama series in the works, and the network is going with a format that it already knows will work. Deadline.com reports that the Peacock is working on a spinoff of “The Blacklist.”

“The network is pursuing a potential offshoot series toplined by ‘X-Men’ star Famke Janssen,” Deadline reports. “Like with the ‘Chicago’ series, the network is taking a planted spinoff approach, with Episode 322 of ‘The Blacklist,’ which airs May 12, serving as a pilot for the potential new series. It will be directed by Michael Dinner.”

Janssen’s character, Susan “Scottie” Halsted, will be introduced in the preceding episode, scheduled to air May 5. The network has not unveiled details about the character or story line.

The network is expected to make a decision in the next month and a half as to whether to proceed with the Janssen spinoff.

  1. NBC should have done that with The Player. Then it might still be on.
