One of the winners of a popular TV competition program was arrested over the weekend. People magazine reports that Paul Qui, who won “Top Chef” in 2012, was arrested Saturday morning in Austin after being accused by his girlfriend of assaulting her and refusing to allow her and her young son to leave their apartment.
He was reportedly released later Saturday on a $20,000 bond.
“According to the arrest affidavit, officers found Qui, 35, with ‘blood all over his face, arms, legs and clothing,'” People reports. “They say they discovered his girlfriend crying and holding her young son. Qui’s girlfriend told police the couple had been dating for one year and living together for eight months.”
Qui’s girlfriend reportedly told officers that Qui and a group of friends had been using alcohol, cocaine, Xanax and marijuana. According to her account he later became jealous and kicked his friends out, then began knocking over furniture.
