The final Republican debate of the primary season has been canceled, with Fox News Channel announcing that the event planned for March 21 in Salt Lake City is off. The move follows announcements by all three of the remaining presidential candidates — Donald Trump, Ted Cruz and John Kasich — that they wouldn’t be participating.
CBS News reports that the exodus began with Donald Trump. The report quotes Trump saying: “I think we have had enough debates. We have had 11 or 12 debates. … How many times can the same people ask you the same question?”
Trump also said he had a prior commitment to make “a very major speech in front of an important group of people.” Kasich later said that if Trump was out, so was he, and Cruz soon followed suit.
Trump later elaborated that he would be talking with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).
