A lineup change is in the works at ABC that will change the network’s morning landscape. The network announced that “Live with Kelly and Michael’s” Michael Strahan, a former NFL player who has been Kelly Ripa’s co-host since 2012, is leaving the program to tackle a full-time role on “Good Morning America.”

ABC News President James Goldston announced the move today.

Strahan has been doing guest spots on “GMA” for the past two years, but will move into a permanent spot in September.

In a statement, Goldston said: “Over the past two years on ‘GMA,’ Michael’s proven to be a tireless and versatile broadcaster with an incredible ability to connect with people, from veterans and all kinds of newsmakers to a host of modern American cultural icons.”

Goldston noted that “Live” will launch a search for a new co-host when the fall season begins.

Strahan, a former New York Giant and an NFL Hall of Famer, will continue his work as a co-host on “NFL on Fox.”
