A man who was a finalist on the Fox singing competition “American Idol” was killed Thursday night in a traffic collision. TMZ.com reports that Rickey Smith, who was a finalist on the show in 2003, died after a man driving the wrong way on an interstate highway outside Oklahoma City slammed head-on into Smith’s vehicle.
The other driver was reportedly hospitalized and booked for alledged DUI.
Smith, 36, was a part of “Idol’s” second season, making the finals and finishing eighth overall. Ruben Studdard was the winner that season.
