HBO Orders Two New Dramas

Pay-cable channel HBO has expanded its development lineup with orders for two new drama projects. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that the network ordered the pilots “Succession,” from Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, and “Mogadishu, Minnesota,” from Kathryn Bigelow.

“‘Succession’ follows the saga of a fictional, American global-media family that is not only rich and powerful but also powerfully dysfunctional,” THR reports. “The drama will explore family loyalty, international business and the perils of power in the 21st century.”

“Mogadishu, Minnesota” is described in the report as “a family drama that grapples with what it means to be American among the Somalis of Minneapolis. The project was first announced in December, with the early logline of the original idea set to ‘draw open an iron curtain behind which viewers will see the highly impenetrable world of Jihadi recruitment.'”
