A one-hour, five-day-a-week talk show that has been airing locally is getting a tryout in a number of major markets. TVNewsCheck reports that “The Jason Show,” which has been on the air for almost a year in Minneapolis, will test for four weeks in three additional markets.
The show is hosted by Jason Matheson, the entertainment news anchor at Fox-owned KMSP-TV in Minneapolis and a local radio personality. It will have a four-week trial run on Fox stations KTTV in Los Angeles, KDFW-TV in Dallas and KSAZ-TV in Phoenix.
The test, which launches Monday, will determine whether the show, which was developed at KMSP, has the potential to go national.
Stephen Brown, EVP, programming and development, Fox Television Stations, commented: “This show is the first of what we hope to be a series of shows developed at our O&Os. Jason has a dynamic and hilarious personality and we believe [‘The Jason Show’] will resonate well beyond the Minneapolis market.”
