Why ‘Game of Thrones’ Season Six Will End in Epic Fashion

“Game of Thrones” aficionados found a number of clues in a release by HBO providing episode titles and lengths for the final two episodes of the show’s current sixth season.

For one thing, the final episode, “The Winds of Winter,” will be the series’ longest episode yet at 69 minutes. Episode nine, “Battle of the Bastards,” the season’s second-to-last episode, is no slouch at 60 minutes.

The U.K. publication The Telegraph notes: “It looks as if the long-awaited clash between Ramsay Bolton and Jon Snow will be every bit as epic as we wanted.”

The report adds: “While we obviously can’t say for sure what will happen in the episodes, the title of the penultimate installment suggests that it will focus on the long-awaited clash between the show’s two Northern ‘bastards’: charismatic villain Ramsay Bolton (formerly Snow, played by Iwan Rheon) and gloomy risen-from-the-dead hero Jon Snow (Kit Harington).”
