‘X-Men’ Heads to TV With Series Order — Cast Includes Stars of ‘Downton Abbey,’ ‘Fargo,’ ‘Parks and Recreation’

A new TV series will offer its own take on the “X-Men” universe that has been a force at the box office. FX announced it has ordered “Legion,” from FX Productions and Marvel Television.

The series, which has an order for eight episodes, will premiere on FX in early 2017. Production begins this summer in Vancouver.

The cast includes Dan Stevens (“Downton Abbey”), Rachel Keller (“Fargo”), Jean Smart (“Fargo”), Aubrey Plaza (“Parks and Recreation”), Jeremie Harris (“A Walk Among the Tombstones”), Amber Midthunder (“Hell or High Water”), Katie Aselton (“The League”) and Bill Irwin (“Interstellar”).

“Fargo’s” Noah Hawley is on board as showrunner and will executive produce along with Lauren Shuler Donner, Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb, Jim Chory and John Cameron.
