A psychic who became a familiar presence on television pitching a pay-per-call service as part of the Psychic Readers Network has died. TMZ.com reports that Miss Cleo died today in Palm Beach County, Fla., after a battle with cancer. She was 53.
The report cites a rep for Miss Cleo, whose real name was Youree Dell Harris, saying she remained a “pillar of strength” as she battled her illness, and she died surrounded by family and friends.
“Cleo’s Jamaican character and her psychic commercials became a cult classic in the late ’90s … thanks to her catchphrase, ‘CALL ME NOW,'” TMZ reports. “Miss Cleo was actually born in L.A. — she just nailed the accent.”
