A filmmaker who was a part of NBC’s sketch show “Saturday Night Live,” including creating comedic shorts such as “The Jay Z Story,” “Sad Mouse” and “Monster Pals,” has died. People magazine reports that Matt Villines died of cancer at age 39.
Villines worked with directing partner Oz Rodriguez as Matt & Oz to create “SNL” clips.
“Before getting his start at ‘SNL’ in 2012, Villines attended film school in Los Angeles before going onto create hit videos for Funny or Die,” People reports. “In 2014 he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, which began in his kidney.”
