Will Naked Photos of Melania Trump Help or Hurt the GOP Candidate?

Aug 3, 2016  •  Post A Comment

Opinions are mixed on whether nude photos that recently surfaced of Melania Trump, the wife of GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, will bring the kind of attention that might hurt the candidate’s chances — or help them.

The would-be first lady had a modeling career before she met Trump in 1998, and did a number of nude shoots. Her often racy modeling career made headlines again this week after The New York Post published previously unseen photos that were part of a 1995 shoot for the French men’s magazine Max.

The magazine is no longer in business, but The Post has published slightly pixellated versions of the photos, which depict Melania Trump, who was 25 at the time, from various angles wearing only high heels. The Post also ran at least one “girl-on-girl” photo.

The high-profile spread, along with British GQ’s revival of another nude Melania shoot from years ago, prompted headlines around the world.

The U.K. publication The Telegraph ran a story under the headline “Melania Trump naked pictures row ‘may help Donald Trump win LGBTQ and single white male vote,’ apparently referring to a quote attributed to Rush Limbaugh. Meanwhile, the Australian Financial Review headlined its story “Melania photos test Donald Trump’s Christian base.”

The Trump campaign was downplaying the incident. The Telegraph quotes a Trump adviser saying the new photos are “nothing to be embarrassed about.”

Senior Trump adviser Jason Miller reportedly told CNN: “These were photos that are 20 years old, before Mrs. Trump met Mr. Trump. They’re a celebration of the human body as art.”

  1. Haha. I am sure the Evangelical Christian’s who think that Trump has been sent by God to bring back good old fashioned Christian values to America are turning themselves inside out trying to come up with a good reason on why this shouldn’t matter. Hint, it doesn’t matter…just quit trying to put a politician in a messiah role to try and satisfy your religious belief system.

  2. Nothing funny at all about “slut-shaming” to nearly all feminists, who apparently get to choose which victims to defend.

  3. First off, Trump gives enough material all by himself to hurt his campaign, as the last 5 days have seen.

I find it very interesting that this was published in the NY Post, owned by Rupert Murdoch who has been a Trump supporter both in his print and media businesses. I look at it as a warning from Murdoch to Trump. Problem is, Trump sees it as getting his name out there and his wife is beautiful since he seems to be more concerned with TV ratings than electoral college votes.

  4. Things for Donald Trump can’t get any worse. Don’t think he expected all of this so not an ounce of sympathy for him because had he stayed on some sort of message and a real campaign plan these photos would be meaningless. But this is a mess.

  5. In light of Trump’s refusal to release his income tax return these photos go a long way in addressing concerns about “transparency”. ?
