The company that bills itself as the world’s largest leisure travel company announced today that it has expanded into creating television shows. Carnival Corp. said it has created three original programs that will air on major networks on Saturday mornings starting Oct. 1.

The shows are “Ocean Treks with Jeff Corwin,” which will air on ABC; “The Voyager with Josh Garcia,” to be broadcast by NBC; and  “Vacation Creation,” coming to the CW.

The move represents a first in the cruise industry, the company says in its announcement, adding: “This innovative communications approach builds on the company’s strategy to highlight why traveling by ocean to experience global destinations has become one of the best ways to see and learn about the world and other cultures.”
