John Hostetter, Who Played the Stage Manager on ‘Murphy Brown,’ Dies at 69

After a long battle with cancer, John Hostetter, 69, “who played the calm and collected stage manager on the ‘Murphy Brown’ fictional newsmagazine show ‘FYI,’ has died,” reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Hostetter, whose character was also known as John, played in 62 episodes of the long-running “Murphy Brown” series, says THR.

The Reporter also notes that Hostetter acted in the following TV shows and movies: “Knight Rider,” “T.J. Hooker,” “Simon & Simon,” “The Golden Girls,” “Cagney & Lacey,” “Coach,” “Matlock,” “NYPD Blue”, “Sheena,” “Into the Night”(1985), “Heartbreak Ridge” (1986),“Beverly Hills Cop II”(1987), “No Way Out”(1987) and “Leonard Part 6” (1987).”

  1. Is it too much to ask that you include a photo of the actor or, if possible, producer, designer, director, writer of note when they pass away? It would be a lovely and respectful thing to do and, perhaps, call to mind immediately their talent & legacy.
