The cable channel MTV Hits is going away, and in its place beginning next week will be the new channel NickMusic. Viacom, which owns the MTV and Nickelodeon groups of cable channels, announced this week that starting Friday, Sept. 9, the channel will become a 24-hour music video destination aimed at kids.

The new channel will reportedly feature music videos from a wide range of genres, along with guest DJs, celebrity interviews and programming blocks hosted by music artists.

“Curated by Nickelodeon, the number-one entertainment brand for kids, NickMusic is a brand-new music video destination for kids,” Viacom says in the official channel description. “The channel is where kids can discover new talent and music, and interact with the artists they love. NickMusic is a commercial-free zone, with no ads or sponsorships. From Top 40 hits to breakout artists and recurrent favorites — it’s all music, all the time.”
