HBO Locks In Final Season of Polarizing Series

HBO has unveiled plans for what will be the final season of a series that has polarized viewers during its previous five seasons.

The brainchild of star and creator Lena Dunham, “Girls” has won two Emmys and two Golden Globes — including Best Television Series, Comedy or Musical, in 2013. At the same time, the show and Dunham have been lightning rods for criticism from viewers who have been put off by its handling of race, feminism, nudity and any number of hot-button issues.

HBO has announced that season six, which premieres Sunday, Feb. 12, will be the show’s last.

Dunham executive produces along with Judd Apatow, Jenni Konner, Ilene S. Landress, Murray Miller and Bruce Eric Kaplan. The cast also includes Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet, Adam Driver, Alex Karpovsky, Andrew Rannells and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.

Here’s a teaser released today by HBO …
