ABC announced plans today for a special production that will be timed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the rioting that gripped Los Angeles in the wake of the verdict in the Rodney King case in April 1992.

The network will premiere the two-hour documentary “Let It Fall: LA 1982-1992” in spring 2017. Written and directed by Oscar winner John Ridley, the project tracks the rising tensions that built up in the city for a decade before erupting after the verdict was announced.

Ridley, who won an Oscar for writing “12 Years a Slave,” partnered with ABC News’ Lincoln Square Productions on “Let It Fall.”
