Is CBS Interested in Acquiring Sony Pictures?

Dec 19, 2016  •  Post A Comment

With the CBS-Viacom merger just pronounced dead, CBS boss Leslie Moonves reportedly has already begun looking into the possibility of acquiring Sony Pictures.

The New York Post cites tipsters in Tokyo saying Moonves was recently in Japan, although a CBS spokesperson denied that any such trip had taken place.

“Our snoops in the legal community tell us that after many years of saying Sony’s entertainment assets are not for sale, the company is now quietly suggesting it will consider pitches,” The Post reports. “The wrinkle could be whether Moonves will take all the movie and TV assets, since Sony might want to keep the highly profitable TV piece, which makes shows such as ‘Jeopardy!’”

  1. I have been watching DAYS since 1973 that I can remember. I am a few months older than the show. Three generations have watched the show. Something has to give. The highlight in decades was the love story of EJ and Samantha – and a reprise of DiMeras. Too many poor HW changes… not enough of business model to keep quality and top talent.

Time for a real opportunity for the show to return to quality production and top HWs like Tom Castello, Sheri Anderson or Ron Carlivati. No more Dena disasters, please.

If not, give it a dignified end. Please CBS buy Sony Television and acquire DAYS. Or let it go… let it go…

  2. i think the Sony library should split up before CBS , sell parts to other comapnies like Warner, StudioCanal or Lionsgate, etc. and the rest goes to CBS .
Definitely get rid of SPT, split Embassy apart from SPT first

  3. This will be good for MARVEL as theyd automatically get Spider-man back if they sell everything off
