A new TV series will feature elements from a number of well-known Stephen King projects, with references to “The Shawshank Redemption,” “The Shining” and other King work. Hulu today announced plans for “Castle Rock,” named after the fictional Maine town that comes up repeatedly in King’s canon.

Hulu has ordered a 10-episode first season from J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions, Warner Bros. Television and executive producers/writers Sam Shaw & Dustin Thomason. Production is set to begin this year.

“A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, ‘Castle Rock’ combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland,” Hulu notes in the announcement.
