ABC Goes All In on Digital Distribution — More Than 160 Stations to Launch OTT Services Via Groundbreaking Initiative

Disney|ABC Television Group announced plans today to ramp up its commitment to over-the-top TV distribution, with more than 160 ABC affiliates signed on to launch services through the group’s Clearinghouse initiative.

Affliiates who are signed on to the initiative include those owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group, The E.W. Scripps Company, Hearst Television and TEGNA Media, among others.

“The vast majority of stations are now opted into one or more new Internet-delivered programming services from DirecTV Now, Sony PlayStation Vue, YouTube TV and/or CenturyLink,” the company said in today’s announcement. “Additionally, with the participation of affiliated stations, the ABC Owned Stations and digital distribution services, ABC’s overall TV Everywhere and OTT footprint is significantly expanded with programming now live — or poised to go live — on the ABC app, MVPDs and OTT access points in 90 percent of US TV households.”
