Former Fox News Channel star Megyn Kelly, who is getting a Sunday night newsmagazine on NBC along with her new role as part of the NBC morning lineup, has been given the all-clear signal from Fox. Variety reports that Kelly is “completely free from her contract with Fox News Channel and able to make appearances for NBC News should her new employer see fit, according to a person familiar with the situation.”

Fox let Kelly out of her contract early, as we reported last month, but at that time Kelly was still negotiating the terms of her exit from Fox News.

“Now, this person said, Kelly and Fox News have finalized her separation from the 21st Century Fox unit, leaving her able to appear on NBC programs as quickly as deemed suitable. Kelly’s contract had been slated to end in July,” Variety reports.

The news is particularly significant with the upfront presentations coming up, with Kelly now able to be a part of NBCUniversal’s presentation. “Having her contribute to NBCU properties such as MSNBC, ‘Today’ or ‘NBC Nighly News’ would allow her to remain in the public eye while she and NBC News collaborate on the new programs, slated to debut later this year,” Variety notes.
