“Dynasty” is coming back to broadcast prime time after a reboot of the soap opera received a series order from the CW. The Futon Critic reports that a reboot of Richard and Esther Shapiro’s ABC series, which ran from 1981-1989, is in the works for the 2017-2018 season.

The original series focused on the feuding Colbys and Carringtons, two of the richest families in America. The show starred John Forsythe, Linda Evans and Joan Collins.

Principal cast for the reboot reportedly includes Alan Dale, Brianna Brown, Elizabeth Gillies, Grant Show, Nathalie Kelley and Rafael de la Fuente.

The pilot is directed by Brad Silberling. The project comes from CBS Television Studios and Fake Empire.

  1. I am sure it will be just as successful as the Dallas reboot. It is embarrassing how little creativity is left in broadcasting. Only reality and reboots.

  2. Ain’t that the truth Cleric. Where are the creative writers in Hollywood?? And even successful shows like NCIS, Bluebloods, etc…are so predictable you know what’s going to happen before it does. The formulaic “Law & Order” clones, all the different CSI’s. I swear, there must only be 10-15 acutal “writers” in Hollywood just cranking out script after script by formula.

  3. Agree with the comments…why no new series? Sick of these reboots..
