After the video went viral in which Jerry Seinfeld rejects a request for a hug by pop star Kesha, Seinfeld explained himself in an interview with A.J. Calloway for “Extra.”

“I’m 63, I don’t know every pop star… I don’t know everyone,” Seinfeld told Calloway. When Calloway suggested Seinfeld’s not much of a hugger, Seinfeld admitted: “I’m not — well, as a total stranger.” But Seinfeld gives Calloway a hug on the video, explaining that it’s different when he knows someone.

Seinfeld adds in the new video: “When you get to be my age and you’ve done a couple things, you have your own reality. In my reality … I don’t hug a total stranger. I have to meet someone, say hello. I gotta start somewhere. … Hug is not first moment of a human, two humans. … I never did that.”

Seinfeld says he and Kesha met off camera after the incident and laughed about it. But he added that she still didn’t get a hug.

  1. Oh Jerry…sigh…don’t be an ass…

  2. Maybe he’s not an ass but can see all of the law suits for sexual harassment against celebrities and wants to be careful dealing with people he has never met. Maybe more celebs should follow his example.
