The New Nudity: How Hef’s Son Plans to Remake Playboy for His Generation

Aug 24, 2017  •  Post A Comment

Cooper Hefner, who has assumed creative control of the Playboy brand, explains that the nudity presented today in the magazine is unlike the previous incarnation. The 25-year-old son of Hugh Hefner talked about his role in the Playboy empire in a featured interview today in The Hollywood Reporter.

“Nudity hadn’t been the problem — it was how it’d been presented,” said Cooper Hefner.

THR notes that the magazine brought back topless spreads starting with the March issue. “The pictorials, which used to be kitschy high-gloss extravaganzas, now display an arty naturalism meant to connote a cultivated aesthetic,” THR adds.

Says Hefner: “Creating something that resonates with my generation and the generation that comes after mine is how I’ll measure my accomplishments.”

THR adds: “Cooper is quick to mark distance from his dad’s notorious womanizing, but the two share many similarities, including deeply felt progressive politics.”
