TNT Pulls Plug on Drama Project

TNT has backed out of a drama project that would have co-starred “Game of Thrones” alum Tom Wlaschiha. TVLine reports that the cable channel has scrapped “The Deep Mad Dark.”

Set in Detroit, the project was to be produced by John Wells. Along with Wlaschiha, the show would have co-starred Jacki Weaver (“Blunt Talk,” “Gracepoint”).

TNT reportedly ordered a pilot last December, but the project never made it to production.

“Written by Megan Martin (‘Animal Kingdom’), ‘The Deep Mad Dark’ centered on Detroit neurosurgeon Polly Lewis (a role that was never cast) as she embarked on an unorthodox study in the field of memory and trauma,” TVLine notes. “Wlaschiha was set to play a mysterious grifter named Joda who crosses paths with Polly, while Weaver had been cast as self-help writer Lydia.”
