Actor Pleads No Contest to Assault

An actor best-known for his roles in John Hughes movies in the 1980s has entered a no contest plea in an assault case.

The AP reports that Anthony Michael Hall, who was a fixture of teen-oriented movies including “The Breakfast Club,” “Weird Science” and “Sixteen Candles,” entered the plea today in a case in which he was accused of shoving a neighbor. who fell and broke his wrist.

Hall, 49, was sentenced in Los Angeles County Superior Court to 40 hours of community service and three years of informal probation.

“Prosecutors say Hall and a next-door neighbor in Playa Del Rey got into an argument in September 2016 that ended with Hall pushing the man to the ground,” the AP reports.

Hall played the lead on the USA Network series “The Dead Zone” from 2002-2007.
