One of MSNBC’s prime-time anchors is apologizing after video surfaced of a profanity-filled meltdown while the cameras continued to roll — even though the tirade took place off the air. Lawrence O’Donnell apologized on Twitter for the rant, which was published by Mediaite after the footage was leaked.

The incident reportedly took place Aug. 29, triggered by technical difficulties that eventually got O’Donnell unhinged. Things were obviously not going well that night on the tech side, prompting O’Donnell to yell out repeatedly at one point, “Stop the hammering!” And that was one of his milder comments.

“The video, which lasts a full eight minutes, is a collection of clips from one evening (given O’Donnell’s consistent outfit) and [shows] the MSNBC anchor fuming about earpiece malfunctions, blasting off obscenities and screaming at his staff. We were able to link it back to the August 29 show,” Mediaite reports.

Here’s O’Donnell’s apology …

  1. How professional!

  2. Talking to his crew members with such horrible foul language is inexcusable. A man who speaks such vile words against others because of a few mistakes should have this job. Mr. O’Donnel belittles the president daily for his language mishaps. How ironic! Neither men are admirable if the only way to express their selves is to use profanity. MSNBC and all other media who claim to tell the news can surely hire people who do not speak with forked tongue.
