CBS acted swiftly after one of its executives sent out a surprisingly harsh message this morning about the mass shooting Sunday night in Las Vegas. Variety reports that the network fired legal executive Hayley Geftman-Gold over the Facebook comment.

Geftman-Gold was a VP and senior counsel in strategic transactions at the network. In her post, which you can see below, Geftman-Gold responded to the attack by writing: “If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that the Repugs will ever do the right thing. I’m actually not even sympathetic bc country music fans often are republican gun toters.”

The post drew a swift response, with many on social media and news outlets lashing out at her. CBS soon followed suit by firing Geftman-Gold.

Variety quotes a CBS spokesperson saying: “This individual, who was with us for approximately one year, violated the standards of our company and is no longer an employee of CBS. Her views as expressed on social media are deeply unacceptable to all of us at CBS. Our hearts go out to the victims in Las Vegas and their families.”
