Actor Opens Up About Cancer Fight

A popular actor is talking about how his life has been impacted by his battle with cancer. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Val Kilmer says his struggle with the disease has taken its toll.

Kilmer, 57, was joined by his children Mercedes, 26, and Jack, 22, for the interview at his home in Brentwood, Calif.

“Kilmer is not the screen god he was in ’80s and ’90s films like ‘Top Gun,’ ‘The Doors’ and ‘Batman Forever,'” THR notes. “A two-year battle with throat cancer has taken its toll, and a procedure on his trachea has reduced his voice to a rasp and rendered him short of breath.”

Kilmer, who has undergone chemotherapy, credits his faith as a Christian Scientist with helping him deal with his health crisis.
